Think a monkey can play this game? Think again.. play can become very competitive and strategic. Precision is also very key. Wickets are generally only 1/8" wider than the ball diameter. Throughout the centuries many different variations in rules have existed. Today the most common court setting world wide is 6 wicket. 3 main versions of 6 wicket rules exist. England and most of the world use 6 wicket rules maintained by an organization located in England called the Croquet Association. These rules are gaining popularity in America as players are becoming more interested in international play. In America the most commonly used 6 wicket rules are those maintained by the United States Croquet Association (USCA). These are the primary rules used in most USCA tournaments. The USCA also maintains rules for another popular 9 wicket game called "backyard croquet." Another newer, popular version of 6 wicket rules are for a game called "golf croquet." This game offers more basic rules, hence, its easier to learn. These rules are maintained by the World Croquet Federation.
