Not much is known about the origin of game. Due to its simple nature, one could envision its start coming from Napoleon Bonaparte saying to one of his officers "hey, bet you can't make this musket ball in that can over there."

The goal of the washers game is to toss large washers into a wooden box with a cylinder mounted in the center.

Many different variations in washer game dimensions & rules are used. I've tried to include the most common ones on this site.
